Zero Tariff On Products

At the high-level meeting of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals,

Chinese government

It promised to provide zero tariff treatment to products from less developed countries, which accounts for 95% of all Chinese tax items.

Since July 1, 2010, China has provided zero tariff treatment to 4762 of the products imported from Bangladesh and 32 other less developed countries, which is in line with the 2010 customs tariff of China, accounting for 60% of China's tax revenue.

Therefore, China has become one of the largest developing countries to open up the market to the less developed countries.

China is one of the first countries to develop zero tariff treatment to the less developed countries.

Since 2001, China has begun to implement zero tariff treatment to a specific number of products from 41 underdeveloped countries.

So far, China has raised zero tariff treatment on some 1000 products from less developed countries, which includes almost all products exported to China by these countries.

In 2008, less developed countries accounted for 23% of their total exports to China, making China the largest market in less developed countries.

This includes poultry products, medical materials, plastic utensils, leather, wood, garments and garments.

According to China's statistics in 2008, the 4762 products account for 98.2% of the total exports from the less developed countries to China.

China will continue to expand the scope of zero tariff import products of the developed countries and gradually increase the import volume from 60% to 95%, according to the status of these countries in choosing and implementing these measures.

At present, the Doha round of WTO negotiations has reached an impasse.

The promise of zero tariffs and zero quotas for 97% of the products of developed countries has not been implemented.

As a developing country facing the global financial crisis and complex domestic economic situation, China has faithfully implemented the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations and provided zero tariff treatment to products from the less developed countries. This clearly shows China's determination to support an open, fair and just system of reciprocal trade. China's policy will help the less developed countries to promote their economic development.

With the extensive implementation of zero tariff treatment, a large number of products from the less developed countries will easily enter the Chinese market without tax. This will bring concrete benefits to the people of the underdeveloped countries and consolidate the friendly relations between China and the underdeveloped countries once again.

It is hoped that other countries, especially developed countries, will be able to provide more favorable market entry treatment to the less developed countries.

In addition, China hopes that the measures adopted by China can promote the early success of Doha Round negotiations and achieve the global economic revival.
