A senior official said the Indonesian government decided to maintain its policy of allowing limited imports of second-hand machinery, aiming at creating a development opportunity for backward industries.

Anshari Bukhari, head of the Ministry of textiles, machinery and metals industry, said that the Department and trade department under his leadership were discussing the maintenance of the limited import second-hand machine licensing system in 2009.

In April this year, the government planned to cancel the second-hand machinery import policy.

Bukhari said, in fact, the government is going to cancel the import license, but enterprises still need second-hand machinery.

Therefore, under such circumstances, the government departments of industry and commerce are discussing how to import second-hand machinery for a long time.

He said the discussions tended to be a restricted import of second-hand machinery by pulling out a list of machine types that could be imported.

He said that industry minister Fahmi Idris hopes that only second-hand machinery industry can import second-hand machinery, and the industry that resold second-hand machinery can not import second-hand machinery.
